Developed by Woodbourne Solutions and HealthBizNow, CountryCares.org is a donation and promotion site for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. CountryCares, which sponsors radio events with country artists, is one of the largest fund-raising programs for St. Jude, with over $132 million in pledges since its inception in 1989. We are honored to have had the opportunity to develop a web presence for such a worthy cause.
Technologies used on this project include Allaire Coldfusion, SQL 2000 database, and a highly customized installation of Ektron's Eweb Edit Pro Software. What makes this project especially exciting is that every page on the front end is completely customizable by the client.
The back end of the Country Cares site was developed from a multi-level admin model, so that different types of administrators have different levels of permission to add, edit or delete various sections of the site. By client decision, this permission level extends down to a fine level. The client has defined only certain admin types to be able to edit certain portions/sections of a page. For instance, the site's main page is broken out into several sections - the main body, lower body, country star, and the site?s footer image - with each admin type only allowed to edit their particular portion.
The people administering the content work through eWebEditPro, which is a program that allows the creation of web-formatted documents in a MS Word- like environment. For Country Cares, we have customized this program in line with the multi-tiered admin interface. Based upon admin type, the client can control:
- If files can be uploaded.
- What file types can be uploaded (some admin types need to be able to upload audio, video, real media, pdfs, etc, while others only have the rights to upload images).
- To what directories the files can be uploaded.
- If files can be overwritten on an upload.
- If files can be deleted.
In essence, we've given the client an incredibly flexible and powerful content management tool for their entire site.
